Just getting things started on this little dove today. Blocking in all the lights and shadows before putting in all the fun, tiny details. This'll definitely be the start of a larger encaustic piece that'll also include embroidering and sewing the paper. I'm excited to see it come to life in the next several weeks! The shadows caught me by surprise 🍂✨ What an incredible First Friday at Avenue West Gallery! 🎨✨ Excited to share that my work will be featured at Avenue West Gallery's First Friday Reception on February 6th! 🎨 Eight pieces all hung on the walls @spokaneclub and ready for next Friday's group show opening (12.5). Always so exciting to see your work altogether on the walls in one space. This'll be the first time Spokane Club participates in the city's First Friday art walk and opens their doors to the public. Can't wait! Back to this other little sketch... getting more and more done lately and it feels so good to have a regular practice again. Drawing / painting, done. ✅️ Now it's time to sew! Red string has deep meaning across cultures over time that embodies the ancient, symbolic, but instinctual desire to connect even as it creates punctures that allow transformation. Up next, an encaustic wax finish to preserve literally and symbolically. Slow, steady progress on this little gem of an orchid. It's been a great exercise so far in seeing the light and shadows as they *actually* are, and not how I imagine them to be. Finishing up these two at long last. 🐦🐦 Is been an incredibly stressful summer which killed my creativity. Glad to report an impending comeback!
